Matthew has more than 32 years of experience structuring and executing complex real estate financing primarily focused on multi-family asset class. His experience is backed by his leadership role raising and closing more than $7 billion of financings including bridge, mezzanine and preferred equity. McManus serves as the co-head of originations for M2 and draws on long term relationships established with real estate sponsors and their brokers. Additionally, he established and contributes to the firm’s culture that is dedicated to industry leading responsiveness, transparency and performance.
Today, Matthew’s primary focus is the origination of preferred equity investment opportunities for transitional multi-family properties in lease up or positioned for a value-add plan centered on capital improvements.
Prior to M2, Matthew founded and was President of a medium sized, Philadelphia based boutique investment banking firm that arranged debt and equity financing for range of assets from apartments, senior and student housing, hotels and self-storage. After leading the firm for over 18 years, he exited via a sale to a public company and subsequently established M2. Matthew has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions from industry peers and media.
Matthew graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1991 and resides in the Philadelphia suburbs.
